In a fantastic start to his A1GP career, Earl has finished second in the first Sprint Race of the new season. After leading part of the race, Earl managed to hold it together in tough conditions for a great podium finish.

In a quick news update, A1 Team New Zealand have secured second place in the Sprint Race at Zandvoort, The Netherlands.
Earl Bamber drove Black Beauty in fine style, and was at one stage leading the race. With conditions very wet on track, Bamber drove a calculated race, and brought home the car in perfect condition for the Feature Race which gets underway in a few hours.

So the final order (which goes back to 10 laps) was Malaysia, New
Zealand, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, South Africa, Italy, USA.
Lap 13 It's the first win for Malaysia in 27 races.

Lap 12 Bleekemolen is under huge pressure from Switzerland's Neel Jani for fourth.
Lap 11 Ho-Pin Tung loses control of the China car. It was looking so good for him. He crashed out of fifth place.

Lap 10 Fauzy has a 0.578-second advantage over New Zealand's Earl Bamber.
Lap 9 Malaysia grabs the lead from New Zealand. What a first race for the 2008/09 season! This is increible action.
Lap 8 Neel Jani runs wide and off the track. France's Loic Duval gets through.
Lap 8 France now is trying to get by Switzerland for fourth.

Lap 8 Fauzy is working hard to try and get passed Bleekemolen.
Lap 8 Malaysia is now making the move. Fairuz Fauzy passes Switzerland for third place.

Lap 7 Netherlands runs off circuit breifly while trying to keep the position.

The order then is Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, Malaysia,
France, South Africa, China (coming up from the back of the grid!),
Italy, USA, Portugal, Lebanon
Lap 6 Korea and Australia are under investigation.
Lap 5 Bleekemolen has a race on his hands. New Zealand new boy Earl bamber is shadowing him hard.
Lap 5 Jin Woo Hwang had hit John Martin at the first corner the replays show.
Lap 5 The Korean and Australian cars are in the gravel.
Lap 4 Lebanon's Daniel Morad loses it at the first corner. Thanksfully he just avoided hitting the USA.
Lap 4 As a result, Bleekemolen and Bamber have a bit of a gap to the rest of the field
Lap 3 Adam Carroll lost the Irish car at the final corner. Monaco's Clivio Piccione crashed into him.

Lap 2 The safety car is coming in this lap.

So the order behind the safety car is Netherlands, New Zealand,
Ireland, Malaysia, Monaco, Switzerland, South Africa, Italy, USA,
LEbanon.
Lap 1 It's really wet out there. The cars are staying behind the safety car, but the race has now officially started.

10:46 It has just been declared that the race will start behind the safety car for safety reasons. It is very wet here at Zandvoort.

Drama already! Filipe Albuquerque has gone off into the gravel when he
has left the pits. He hasn't even got to the grid in the Portugese car!

We're about to have the first race of the new season - everyone here is
so excited. Just walking round the paddock this morning you could
really feel the anticipation as the new era of A1GP, the A1GP Powered
by Ferrari car era, was about to get underway.
